Cleveland Public Power employees gathered at the East Side Service Center last week to show their support of the 2014 Lineworkers Rodeo Team. Team members include Steve Holland, Bill Reddy, Bob Kinstler, Davey Morales, Jeff Bremer, Raymond Matias, Shemill Johnson, Sam Vallejo and Javier Rodriquez.
The Lineworkers Rodeo, sponsored by the American Public Power Association (APPA), was launched in 2001 as an opportunity for Public Power Lineworkers from all over the United States and some U.S. territories to come together and demonstrate their skill and knowledge in the craft of linework. During the Rodeo, journeymen and apprentice lineworkers can compete for professional recognition, attend training courses and practice essential skills in a safe environment. An added bonus is the opportunity to connect with and learn from the nationwide community of lineworkers.
This year’s Rodeo is hosted by Edmond Electric, located to the north of Oklahoma City where the Rodeo and activities will be held.
As he introduced this year’s team, Rich Barton assistant commissioner of Operations for CPP noted that this year’s journeymen are examples of the strength of the Intern-Apprentice program as each of them started their journey in linework through this program and participated as apprentices and are now competing at the journeyman level.
Join us in wishing the team well in the competition and a safe journey out west.
